Bike Compound Maintenance (3-6 People per shift)
Check-in and check-out bikes, organize them according to rider number, and carefully monitor them. Some moderate lifting may be required. 4-hour shifts, Friday through Sunday.
Break Points (10 to 15 People per Break Point)
Break points are sponsored by organizations and companies that get a group of volunteers together to man the break point. The group is responsible for setting up the break point, working the break point during the ride and cleaning up after the last rider passes through. 6-hour shifts, Saturday and Sunday.
Champions Against MS Table (2 People per shift)
Volunteers at this table will give out the pre-signed Champions Against MS Bandanas to those who signed up ahead of time. They will also be responsible for letting others come & get bandanas upon arrival. 4-hour shifts, Saturday and Sunday.
Food & Beverage (6-8 People per shift)
Food and beverage volunteers are needed to assist in setting up the Food & Beverage area and serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Lunch on Day 1 will be on the route. All other meals will be at the Circus Tent. 4-hour shifts, Saturday and Sunday.
Medical (Approx 20 People)
Provide medical assistance at all official sites along the route including the Circus Tent. Volunteers must be licensed or certified professionals for this position. 4-hour shifts, Saturday and Sunday.
Motorcycle Marshals (50-60 Marshals)
Motorcycle Marshals provide motorcycle support along the route to troubleshoot problems and ensure the safety of riders. 8-10 hour shifts, Saturday and Sunday.
Packet Pick Up and Registration (10 People per pick up)
Collect pledge sheets and distribute rider packets and t-shirts to participants on scheduled dates before the ride. 4-6 hour shifts. Dates TBD.
Parking and Traffic (50-60 People)
Direct traffic, parking and cyclists at all official sites. Keep in mind that this job requires standing for long periods of time. 4-hour shifts, Saturday and Sunday, 10 volunteers per shift.
Rider Services Information Table (2 People per shift)
Answer general questions about the Bike MS: Cox Atlanta Ride 2008 and distribute printed materials, such as route maps and schedules. 4-6 hour shifts, Saturday and Sunday.
Route Markers (6 People)
Placing route markers along the bike route the night before each day of the ride and retrieve them after that day’s route closes. 8-10 hour shifts, Friday through Sunday.
Site Set-up (30 People)
Assist the site coordinator in setting up areas such as the Start/Finish Line, Circus Tent, bike compound, and parking area by setting up supplies and equipment; i.e., tables, tents, chairs, banners, signs, etc. Moderate to heavy lifting is required. Set-up begins Thursday before the ride. 4-6 hour shifts.
Site Tear-down (30 People)
Assist the site coordinator in taking down the Start/Finish Line, Circus Tent, bike compound, and parking area, loading up trucks and cleaning up the area. Moderate to heavy lifting is required. 4-6 hour shifts, Sunday only.
Street Festival & Expo (25-30 People)
Help set up, break down and provide general assistance at the Street Festival & Expo. This includes tables, chairs, tents, banners, directional signs, parking, Champions Against MS, Kidz Zone, Volunteer check in, etc. Registration and packet Pick Up volunteers will also be on-hand for registrations and packet Pick Up. Moderate lifting may be required. 4-6 hour shifts, Friday only.
Supply Truck Drivers (8-10 Drivers)
Supply Truck Drivers are needed to drive the supply trucks to and from break points loading and unloading breakpoint supplies. 8-10 hour shifts, Saturday and Sunday.
Support and Gear (SAG) (15-20 Drivers)
SAG volunteers patrol the route in SAG vehicles to provide assistance to riders who need a lift forward on the route. SAGs also assist break points in delivery of supplies and serve as communication liaisons. 8-10 hour shifts, Saturday and Sunday.
Volunteer Check-in (2 People per shift)
Check-in volunteers at the Volunteer Check-In Tent as well as directing volunteers to places of need throughout the ride. 4-hour shifts, Saturday and Sunday.
Warehouse (10-15 People)
Assist the warehouse coordinator in organizing, loading and unloading the supplies and equipment; i.e., bike compound, tents, banners, signs, etc. Moderate to heavy lifting is required. Set-up begins Tuesday before the ride and ends the Monday following the ride. 4-6 hour shifts.
